What a great start to the Willowview Personnel Victorian Title we've had so far. Within 24 hours of making the nomination forms available we have already received some top quality racers reply with completed nominations. Here are a couple to start, more will be mentioned over the coming days.
We are happy to announce generous support from NASR (National Association of Speedway Racing) for the promotion and running of this event. NASR have been a large part of the Lighting Sprint amalgamation and continue to support its progress.
It is also with great pleasure that the Victorian Lightning Sprint Association can announce this season's naming sponsor, Willowview Personnel.
Willowview Personnel has been a continuous supporter of the Lightning Sprint amalgamation, especially in Victoria since the first recognised Lightning Sprint race meeting held. The committee of the Victorian Lightning Sprint Association would like to take this opportunity to again thanks Willowview Personnel for their support and look forward to promoting the company throughout the upcoming title event.
First up to formalise his nomination was the reigning Victorian Title holder, Clayton Priest, Vic #1 (NSW #5).
Clayton, driving his unmissable Nationwide Air-Conditioning Joker / VW combination, showed last season what he was capable of around the Avalon circuit. This season he is upping the ante even more with a revamped power plant and a desire to go back-to-back from his innaugural win last season.
Next on the early entry list is Bruce Pitt, Tas #16.
Bruce's Connection Electrical JSR / Suzuki has been consistently fast in the Tasmanian series this season and I'm sure he is looking forward to a good run on the 'mainland', something which has unfortunately eluded him on recent visits. Over the last couple of seasons Bruce has shown his committment to making Lightning Sprints a truly national division by making a number of trips across the Strait to compete with the best each of the states have to offer and has stepped up to the challenge once again.
The first of the South Australian contingent to nominate is the fast female Kate Wiese, SA #9.
Kate's Biocycle Waste Stealth / Mitsubishi has been a formidable front runner this season on the South Australian tracks and is currently running second in the Lightning Sprints S.A. series. Kate's acheivements include being a former winner of the NASR Rising Award (which gives competitors tuition and advise on becoming becoming better athletes and ambassadors within the sport of speedwa) and recently finishing 3rd in the South Australian Lightning Sprint state title.
Next up is South Australian hard charger Sam Putland, SA #17.
The Fuchs Oils Gambler / Mitsubishi combination is currently leading the Lightning Sprints S.A. series pointscore. Sam has been having some minor issues of late but is confident he has it all sorted and is looking for a good result at the Victorian title to make amends for an out of character DNF at the recent South Australian title. Sam is a 'give it all' style driver that is sure to get the crowds attention at Avalon Raceway.
More information on the following nominations soon....
